The municipal swimming pool was built in the 1940’s or 1950’s at the site where it is currently located. The original pool had a sand bottom, which was covered with concrete during the pool renovations that took place in 1970. Since those renovations, there have been numerous other improvements that have taken place to maintain a safe and operable facility.

Most of these improvements took place in the middle to late 1990’s. The original facility had one filtration system that would take care of both the main pool and the baby pool. After receiving notification from the county health department that changes were coming that would require each of the pools to have its own filtration system, we acted accordingly and had those changes made. Not only did the filtration systems have to be separated, but also the chemical feed equipment had to be independent of one another. That change was also made during those renovations.

In 2010, the local Swimming Pool Fundraising Committee purchased a tube slide to be placed at the Municipal Pool.  The slide was not installed until after the 2010 pool season had concluded; however, the slide will be ready and available for use at the beginning of the 2011 pool season.  Special thanks go out to all of the committee members who worked so hard raising the funds necessary to purchase the slide which will add a new “twist” to our swimming pool and provide more recreational opportunities for the bathers.
