Stormwater Utility
At the regularly scheduled Council meeting on February 4, 2008, Village Council unanimously voted to implement a Stormwater Utility and an Unauthorized Sewer Connection Program.
Due to frequent localized flooding at various locations throughout the Village; Council determined that it was necessary to create a Stormwater Utility that would generate revenue to be used to improve and upgrade the existing storm sewer system. The course of action that the Village has followed for many years is not solving the flooding issue; therefore, they voted in favor of creating this utility.
Due to the significant financial investment required by the Village in order to begin the process in creating a storm water utility, the process has been placed on hold. Village Administration will consider appropriating funds in the 2011 budget that would allow the Village to perform the first step in creating this much needed utility. Our current goal is to have the utility in place by 2013, with major storm water improvements to follow directly thereafter.
